Chapter 7 - Examination of the Somatic Motor System (Excluding Cranial Nerves)

Video 7-1. Lower extremity spasticity and patellar and ankle hyperreflexia with bilateral crossed adductor responses in a patient with spastic paraparesis and T11 end plate fracture.
Video 7-2. Lower extremity hyperreflexia in a patient with a spinal cord dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF).
Video 7-3. Peripheral nerve hyperexcitability in a patient with autoimmune anti-voltage gated potassium channel (VGKC antibodies) limbic encephalitis. EMG showed irregularly firing, variable frequency motor unit potentials only in the right abductor digiti minimi.
Video 7-4. Triple flexor response (Babinski sign). Application of a stimulus to the lateral aspect of the left foot provoked hip flexion, knee flexion, dorsiflexion of the foot, and extension of the big toe with extension and abduction of the other toes.

Video 7-5. Unilateral postural tremor with dystonic features in a young patient with previous left cerebellar hemispheric and left thalamic infarcts.
Video 7-6. Holmes tremor including palatal tremor.
Video 7-7. Essential tremor involving head and voice tremor.
Video 7-8. Palatal tremor.
Video 7-9. Asterixis in a patient with traumatic skull base fracture.
Video 7-10a. Huntington's chorea before and after treatment.
Video 7-10b. Huntington's chorea before and after treatment.
Video 7-11. Focal dystonia of the left hand in a patient with prior aneurysmal SAH complicated by right hemispheric infarction.
